Daniel barenboim - ludwig van beethoven beethoven beethoven sonatas: pathétique • appassionata • moon
When I was little I used to fall asleep to my mother's playing of the Moonlight and the Pathetique. I haven't had a recording until now; I just bought the Jeno Jando. Of course now I'm wanting to hear Ivan Moravec too.
Thank you for the fascinating and educational blog; I'll be a regular reader.
And another one, about Otto Klemperer’s recordings of instrumental passages from Wagner, should have read, “But the regal ‘Tannhäuser’ overture, cinematic ‘Götterdämmerung’ passages and fervid ‘Tristan’ prelude make you long for documents of Klemperer steering complete Wagner operas at his prime, and no ‘Siegfried Idyll’ has more plain-spoken charm.” (The reference to “Siegfried Idyll” was missing.)
